alderman_elsie_edwardsElsie Edwards Alderman, 85, of Pilot, Va., and a resident at Friendship Manor, went to be with the Lord on Saturday night, October 31, 2009. She was born June 15, 1924. She was a long time faithful member of the Pilot United Methodist Church.

She was a daughter of the late George and Cliffie Edwards and the widow of her beloved husband, Clayton William Alderman. Sisters and brother, Ann Webb, Eva link, Helen Breeding, Lula Slusher and Everett Edwards preceded her in death. She also was predeceased by son, Clayton J. Alderman and daughter, Dana Moran.

Surviving is son, Jimmy Alderman, Blacksburg; daughters and sons-in-law, Gloria and David Hylton, Christiansburg, Wanda and Robbie Nolen, Floyd, Francie Sutphin and friend, Frank Kruzyna, Christiansburg, Renita Meredith and fiance, Mack Lynn, Christiansburg; daughter-in-law, Gloria Alderman, Floyd; grandchildren, Tony Huff and wife, Rhonda, Pilot, Amy and husband, Mike Bender, North Carolina, Darrell Turner, Christiansburg, Billy Ray Moran, North Carolina, Nick Nolen, Floyd, Wes Nolen and wife, Cheryl, Dublin, Kristy and husband, Roger Smith, Floyd, Chris Meredith, Sierra Meredith, Christiansburg, Tracy and husband, Charles Shelton, Riner, stepgrandsons, Gregory and Anthony Hylton, Christiansburg; brother, George Edwards Jr. and wife, Lorene, Pilot; and sister, Cora Martin, Christiansburg; and many special friends and relatives; great-grandchildren, Justin and Brittany Huff, Cameron Turner, Marissa Cook, Micah Shelton, Chase and Kaylee Smith, Hampton and Eva Bender, Reese and Jaxon Nolen.

The family would like to thank the staff at Friendship Manor for the special professional care Mom received during her stay there. We also appreciate Horne Funeral Service and Maberry Funeral Home for their professional services.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, at the Horne Funeral Chapel Christiansburg with the Rev. Fred Austin and Bernard Wingo officiating with burial in the Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg. Friends may call after 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the Horne Funeral Service where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening.
