Arnold Lee Alderman, 71, of Riner, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 after a long battle with diabetes.

He was born on January 7, 1935 in Montgomery County. Arnold was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Christiansburg, and he was employed at Lynchburg Foundry in Radford for 30 years. He was an avid outdoorsman, and he enjoyed hunting and farming. Arnold loved all of his family.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Muriel Goad Alderman, Riner; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Clay Quesenberry Floyd, Lisa and Frank H. Glover, Jr. Riner; two sons and daughter-in-law, Dale W. and Debbie Alderman, Christiansburg, and Larry J. Alderman, Christiansburg; nine grandchildren, Amber Piland and husband Matt, Scott Taylor, Brandon W. Alderman, Austin L. Alderman, Ross Quesenberry, Adam Glover, Jacob Quesenberry, Brooke Glover and Eric Alderman; two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Bryson Piland; five brothers, Ray Alderman and wife, Vickie, Salem, Ersel Alderman and wife, Gloeda, Radford, Bobby Alderman, Pilot, Early Alderman and wife Belinda, Floyd, Henry Thomas “Hank” Alderman and wife Frances, Daleville; two sisters, Betty Hanks and husband Frank, Christiansburg, Patricia Buckland and husband Danny, Narrows; special friend, Joe Sowers, Pilot. Numerous nieces, nephews and many dear and special friends also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2006 at Gardner Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at St. Matthews Cemetery, Floyd, Va. Friends may call anytime Thursday at Gardner Funeral Home where the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. The family conveys their special thanks to Hospice Care of Montgomery County and the many friends who helped during his final months. Arrangements are being handled by Gardner Funeral Home, Floyd.
