Tamara (Tammy) Jane Albright, 56, formerly of Radford, died Thursday, July 14th at 1:30 a.m. in Bayfront Hospice of St. Pete Beach, Florida. She was with family and her Savior Jesus Christ.

Tammy was born in Radford, Virginia to the late Thomas Wade Albright and Neta Wilson Albright. Tammy attended Radford University before joining the coast Guard. While serving 4 years in the Coast Guard, she earned the status of Sharpshooter, expert in 12 gauge shotgun, and marksman M-60 machine gun. She was also designated a small boat operator, boat crewman and engineer. She served first in Provincetown, Mass. and finally at the USCG Station Cortez, Florida.

Following honorable discharge from the Coast Guard, she worked as maintenance engineer for Florida Power Corporation, the Pier of the City of St. Pete Beach, and the YMCA of Greater St. Pete.

Tammy returned to Radford for 6 years to help her sister, Dianne, care for her mother Neta. She returned to Florida to enjoy her last years in St. Pete Beach, FL surrounded by loving neighbors, friends, and the beautiful beaches.

Tammy was loved for her sense of humor and was known for her devotion to her dogs, Misha and Marit.

Survivors include 5 siblings, Dianne Albright Grant and husband Gary of Radford, Larry Albright and wife Karen of Salisbury, Md., Barbara Faye Albright Mantz and husband Phil of Burlington, NC, Tim Albright and wife Claire of Augusta, Ga., and Ron Albright of Roanoke, Va. Tammy also enjoyed her many nephews and nieces, as well as great nieces and nephews.

The family treasures the special friendships of Tammy’s Florida neighbors, Peg and Gary Etheridge and Jim Robertson. Their loving care and kindness were a special gift to Tammy and the family.
