Albert, Richard George

Richard George Albert, 80, of Pembroke, Va., departed this life on Thursday morning, February 11, 2010, at Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg. Born in Giles County on November 5, 1929, he was a son of the late George and Elizabeth Meredith Albert.

He had been employed as a guard with the Department of Corrections, and had served with the Virginia National Guard.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mildred Mary Trail Albert; and a daughter, Libby Hale. He leaves to cherish his memory his sons and daughters-in-law, George Richard and Cheryl Albert, of Rich Creek, David Lee and Louann Albert, of Dublin, Robert Lee Albert, of Pembroke, and Bryan Keith Albert, of Pembroke; his daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ann and Haven Montgomery, of Dublin, Nancy and Steve Rice, of Pembroke, and Judy and Tim Bane, of Pearisburg; his brother, William Dean, of Pembroke; his 16 grandchildren; and his 18 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2010, in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with burial following in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg.
