Birdie Linkous Albert, 88, of Christiansburg, went to be with the Lord after a courageous battle with cancer, Sunday, May 24, 2009, at Heritage Hall Health Care Center. She was born in Montgomery County, Va. on October 12, 1920 to the late Driscoll and Emma Shelor Linkous.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Leroy Albert, eight brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Ray Eads, of Christiansburg; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth L. and Barbara Albert, of Christiansburg; sister and brother-in-law, Melieve and Russell Turner; grandchildren, Tim Creed and wife, Barbara, Kevin Albert and wife, Lisa, Byron Albert and wife, Christy; stepgranddaughter, Trena French and husband, Paul; great-grandchildren, Bridgette Creed, Karalee Creed, Christopher Albert, Joshua Albert, Renee Albert, Bryson Albert, Byron Vaught; special friends, Beulah Harris, Martha Warr.

The family would like to give a special thank you to her wonderul caregivers, niece, Diane Simpson and son-in-law, Ray Eads. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 3 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Leon Alley officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. Friends may call any time after 12 noon Monday, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg.
