Albert, Barry Wayne

Barry Wayne Albert, 64, of Guinea Mountain Road at Pearisburg departed this life Tuesday morning, November 20, 2007 at his own home in the care of his loving family and hospice.

Born in Pearisburg on September 24, 1943, he was a son of George Ralph Albert of Pearisburg and the late Winifred Blanche Johnston Albert. Barry was a veteran of the United States Navy during the Viet Nam War, was an electrician at VPI, a graduate of Giles High School class of 1963, and loved mountain farming on Guinea Mountain.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of thirty-seven years, Dixie Lafon Albert; and a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Michelle Stafford of West Point, Va.; daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry Stafford and Jr. Davis of Charles City, Va., Sheila and Tim Meadows of Bane and Dreama Shultz of Guinea Mountain; his father, George Ralph Albert of Staffordsville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris and Eddie Williams of Dublin, Sonya and Boyce Falls of Bullock, N.C., Elsie and Bill Fern of Mechanicsville; grandchildren, Ashley Meadows, Alley Meadows, Kelsie Stafford, Lance Stafford and Brandon Shultz.

Memorial services will be conducted Thursday evening, November 22, 2007 at 8 p.m. in The Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke. The family will receive friends at the funeral home two hours before the services, from 6 to 8 p.m. Graveside services will be conducted Friday morning, November 23, 2007 at 10 a.m. at the Anderson Cemetery at Mt. View with military rites by American Legion Posts and the VFW Post in Giles County.
