kinkdae-garden-gateWilliam Joseph Akers, age 69 of Barren Springs passed away Saturday, May 24, 2014 in the Lewis Gale Hospital, Pulaski. Born February 2, 1945 in Pulaski, he was the son of the late Jessee Akers and Eliza Covey Akers. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Melvin Wade Akers, Frankie James “Jim” Akers, and Ronnie Akers & one sister, Edna Marie Sheppard. He was retired from the Lee Company in Winston Salem, N.C. Surviving- His wife- Peggy Sue Akers-Barren Springs, Daughter-JoAnn Akers Wilson-Radford, Son-Rickey Akers- Barren Springs.

Five Grandchildren- Kayla Petzold, Jake Petzold, Jessee Akers, Malachi Akers and Gabrielle Akers.

Brother- Douglas Akers and wife, Lorretta Akers- Pulaski.

Sisters- Katherine Roseberry- Draper Sue Nester- Ft. Chiswell Sadie Graham and husband, Melvin Graham-Dublin Many nieces and nephews including one Special Nephew—Randy Akers- Dublin.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 2:00 p.m., May 28, 2014 in the Bower Funeral Home Chapel, Pulaski with the Rev. Eddie Dalton officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Christian Church Cemetery, Draper.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 until time of service at Bower Funeral Home.
