Virginia Simpkins Akers, 81 of Indian Valley, passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2013. She is preceded in death by her husband, Alva Klemon Akers; brother, James Simpkins; and parents, Roy Lee & Saxton Simpkins. She is survived by her children, Gerry Akers of Snowville, Ricky & Vickie Akers of Radford, Sandy Akers of Indian Valley, and Gregory Akers of West Virginia; grandchildren, Sheena & Jeremy MacAlexander of Dublin, Afton & Rusty McPeak of Collinsville, Daniel Bedsaul of Radford, Travis Bedsaul of Galax; great-grandchildren, Jadyn MacAlexander and Rylan MacAlexander of Dublin; special friends, Ricki & Carolyn Webb, Mary Ruth Marshall, Dorothy Stilwell, Maxine Hollandsworth, Mary Alice Buckner, and many more too numerous to mention. Funeral service will held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Joe Cox officiating. Interment will be held in the Big Sand Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at the funeral home.
