Viola Louise Akers, 87, of Radford, passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2014. Viola was born on May 25, 1927 to the late Grim R. and Nellie Ford Hopkins.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of twenty-eight years, Walter E. Akers; her sisters, Edith Ratcliffe, Lucille Harris, and Lola Jennelle; her brothers, James Hopkins and Grim Hopkins, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Mary Lynn Akers; and grandson, Bryan Akers.

Those left to cherish Viola’s memory are her sons, Carl M. (Debbie) Akers and Walter L. (Debbie Mauck) Akers; her daughters, Wanda (Terry) Nix and Belinda (Gerald) Aust; her brother, Clifford (Elizabeth) Hopkins; her sisters, Lotus Williams and Lois (Clarence) McCann; her sisters-in-law, Reva Martin and Mary Buckner; her brothers-in-law, James Akers and Harrison Long; her granddaughter, Ashley Akers; and many special nieces and nephews.

She was a dedicated member of the Women of the Moose and Montgomery County Lodge No. 1470, Loyal Order of the Moose for many years and enjoyed the many friendships that came out of this association.The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday November 21, 2014 at DeVilbiss Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at DeVilbiss Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Herman Sarver officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin, VA.
