Akers, Tazewell Clynton

Tazewell Clynton Akers, 80, of Christiansburg, went to be with the Lord on August 1, 2011, with his loving family by his side. He was born on October 23, 1930, in Floyd. He was a member of the Seneca Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clynton Tazewell and Ruby Teel Akers. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nancy Hyatt Akers; sons and daughters-in-law, Dale Alan and Robin Akers, Clay Tazewell Sr. and Kathy Akers, Derrick Ray and Beth Lancaster; daughters and sons-in-law, Hope and Jerry Stump, Becky and Lloyd Horton; grandsons, Clay Tazewell Akers Jr., Joshua Clinton Akers, Caleb Alan Akers, Aaron Michael Akers, Noah Kyle Akers, Jonathan Milton Akers, Shawn Stump; granddaughter, Samantha Morris; sisters and brother-in-law, Albertine and Robert Montgomery, Betty Harmon; two great-granddaughters; two great-grandsons; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends.

Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, August 4, 2011, at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor John Collins and Pastor Roy Turpin officiating. Interment to follow in White Rock Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2011, at the funeral home.
