Akers, Steve Allen

Steve Allen Akers, age 63, of Christiansburg went to be with the Lord, Monday, June 20, 2016, at Lewis Gale Medical Center, Salem. He was born in Christiansburg, Va. on February 14, 1953 to the late Willie Allen and Mary Stump Akers. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Lee Akers.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Tammy L. and William Matthew Walker, grandchildren, Joshua David Bergman and Summer King, Daniel Brian Bergman and wife, Victoria, sisters and brothers-in-law, Rosemary and Paul Rutherford, Sally and John Smith, Wesley and Larry Needham, brothers and sisters-in-law, Billyjoe and Joyce Akers, Alex and Rhonda Akers, numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held privately. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 pm Thursday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr. SW, Blacksburg.
