akers_harman_noblin_srHarman Noblin Akers Sr., 76, of the Brooklyn section of Fairlawn, Va., went to his Heavenly home, Wednesday, February 16, 2011. He was at his home with Elizabeth, his wife of 57 years, by his side. He was a 60+ year member of Rockford United Methodist Church and retired from Volvo. He was born February 27, 1934, in Radford the son of Hobert Asa and Roberta Gay Ratcliffe Akers. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth W. Akers, of Radford; daughter, Martha and son-in-law, Glenn Quesenberry, of Radford, son Harman Jr. and daughter-in-law, Vicky, of Dublin, and daughter, Sheila and son-in-law, Andrew Hamblin, of Radford; seven grandchildren, Jessica and husband, Michael Hall, of Dublin, Glenn Quesenberry II, of Christiansburg, Joshua Akers and wife, Heather, of Dublin, Jeffery Quesenberry and wife, Autumn, of Radford, Susan Hamblin, of Pulaski, and Tony and Maranda Hamblin, of Radford; six greatgrandchildren, Austin and Ryan Hall, Makenzie Quesenberry, Mary Beth Duncan, Kyleigh Akers and Dakoda Harrison; two step great-grandchildren, Isaac Harris and Austin Younce; brother, Charlie Akers and wife, Shirley, of Barren Springs; and brothers-in-law, Bill Galt, of Mooresville, Indiana and Calvin Hong, of Banning, California. The family would like to thank caregivers, Debra, Martie, Donna and Lisa, and all members of the hospice team. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, February 18, 2011, at the Rockford United Methodist Church in Radford with Pastor Darlene Marshall and the Rev. Ernest Chinault officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.
