Russell Akers, 79 of Floyd, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice “Jewel” Akers; parents, George William and Tymanda Emaline Dickerson Akers; brothers, George Akers, Greenberry Akers, Noah Akers; sisters, Robertene Clemmons, Betty Rierson.

He is survived by siblings, Mary Akers, Henry Akers, Linda Duncan (James); numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 29, 2018 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Scott Martin, Pastor Warren Bumgarner and Pastor Ronald Smith officiating. The interment will follow at the Sowers Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 28, 2018 at the Funeral Home.
