Akers, Naomi Vest

Naomi Vest Akers (Granny), 92, of Elliston, went to be with her Lord, Friday, July 18, 2008 at Lewis Gale Hospital. The daughter to the late Noah and Lottie Light Vest, she was also preceded in death by her husband, John O. Akers, son, Donald C. Rumburg.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Dorothy Stewart, Mary Booth, Sandra Booth and Eddie, Michael Akers and Martha, Cathy Stanger and Ricky, Vicky Garman and Keith. She is also survived by eighteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; and eighteen great-greatgrandchildren. Her brothers, James Dayton Vest and Edgar Lee Vest also survive.

The family wishes to thank the fifth floor West staff at Lewis Gale Hospital and to the staff at Snyder Nursing Home in Salem for the wonderful care provided to Mrs. Akers.

The family will receive friends at The Horne Funeral Home Sunday, July 20, 2008 from 3 to 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held, Monday, July 21, 2008 at 1 p.m. in The Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Eddie Booth officiating.
