Matthew Cameron Akers, 30, of Pulaski, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2013, at his home. Born in Radford on November 17, 1982, he was the son of Sabrina Farmer and John Dirk Akers.

Matthew graduated from Pulaski County High School in 2001. He then attended Radford University for four years. Matt coached a number of sports in the community, and built strong relationships with many of the area youth.

Besides his parents, he is survived by his beautiful children, Madison Rose Akers and Cameron Scott Akers; brother and sister-in-law, Camden and Ashlan Akers; grandparents, Jan and J.D. Akers, and Betty and Frank Farmer; uncle and aunt, Frank and Kathy Farmer.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 22, 2013, at Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski, with a Memorial Service at 4 p.m. conducted by Dr. David Kester.

The family suggests memorial gifts be made to the Pulaski County Daily Bread.
