Louise Roop Anderson Akers, 82, born March 11, 1933, to Pat Miller and Rosie Young Roop in Radford, passed away Friday, April 3, 2015. She was manager for 30 years with Cooks Clean Center.

Mrs. Akers was a member of the Radford DAR, General William Campbell Chapter and a member of the Colonial Dames, Colonial Trials Chapter. She wrote many genealogical books, which was her passion, along with her quilts and crafts. She won many blue ribbon awards for her quilting. She never met a stranger and she will be deeply missed by friends and family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death in 2013 by her beloved husband of 39 years Franklin Roosevelt Akers.

She is survived by her beloved daughters, Linda Hooper, of Christiansburg, Judy Anderson, of Richmond, and Karen Bland, of Bedford; son, James Anderson, of Christiansburg; sisters, Ann Ruth Thornton, of Pulaski and Carolyn Caldwell, of Radford; seven grandchildren Christina Donahue, Melissa Allen, Jeanne Elliott, Elizabeth Hooper, Rickie Bland, Nathaniel Wells and James Wells; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held 7 p.m. Monday, April 6, 2015 at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Rev. James Bradley officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. prior to the service on Monday. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, April 7, at 11a.m. at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin.
