Akers, Jr., Herman J.

Herman J. Akers Jr. “Buggy”, 55, of Roanoke, VA passed away on November 28th, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was preceeded in death by his parents, Herman J. Akers Sr. and Christine Wheeling Akers; and special grandmother Macie Bryant Wheeling.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sisters Audrey Akers Roberts (Jay), Karen Akers Mowles, and Lisa Akers Hartman; nieces Jennifer Roberts (Tracey), Jamie Roberts Yassine (Issam), Jessica Bland, Megan Rock, Danielle Akers Basham (Michael), and Ariel Hartman; special great nephew Abdessalam Yassine; a special family member that was like a second mother to him, Dorothy Wheeling Bowles; two special friends, Jody and Joyce; and many cousins and friends.

Herman worked in the banking business for 35 years; first with BB&T and then Wells Fargo. He also worked part time for Michaels for over 12 years. Herman will be fondly remembered for his strong work ethic, wonderful sense of humor, creativity, love of travel, sense of adventure, his willingness to help others and dedication to his family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Riverview Holiness Church, 1134 North Fork Rd, Christiansburg 24073, with the service to follow at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow in the Dudley Family Cemetery in Fagg, Va.
