Akers, Hazel Irene Reed

Hazel Irene Reed Akers, 85, of Floyd, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2007. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert Clinton and Sarah Lizzie Reed; husband, Lanford C. Akers; and brothers, Russell and Harry Reed.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Mae A. and Dexter Slusher, Floyd; son and fiance, Roy L. Akers and Debbie Johnson, Floyd; granddaughter and fiance, Tessa J. Akers and Brian G. Sutphin, Floyd; great-granddaughter, Brianna Jade Sutphin, Floyd; three stepgrandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; twin brother and sister-in-law, Wilbert H. and Ila Reed, Willis; sister, Alma Reed Duncan, Rogersville, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 14, 2007 at Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren, Floyd, with the Rev. Richard Thomas, the Rev. Roy Turpin and the Rev. Marvin Wade officiating. Interment will follow at Beaver Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2007 at Maberry Funeral Home, Floyd.
