Akers, Deborah Rae Jamison

Deborah Rae Jamison Akers, 49, of Pembroke, departed this life at her home Monday morning, July 13, 2009, after a long illness. Born in Pearisburg on May 17, 1960, she was a daughter of Alvis D. and Jessie Snider Jamison, of Pembroke. She had been employed at VPI and Richards and Associates in Blacksburg and was a member of New Village Pentecostal Holiness Church in Staffordsville and as a young lady was a member of Pembroke First United Methodist Church. “Debbie” had been active in coaching girls T Ball and Little League Cheerleaders. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Mark A. Akers; her parents; her daughter, Shannon Jarels, of Blacksburg; her brother and sister-in-law, Rodney and Connie Jamison, of Hoges Chapel; her paternal grandmother, Ottie Jamison Quesenberry, of Pembroke; her maternal grandmother, Loraine Lamb, of Rich Creek; her aunts, Jo Lafon and Jean Trenor; her cousin, Ashley Jamison; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kathy and Stanley Higgs, of Pearisburg; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Teresa Akers, of Staffordsville, Rocky and Pam Akers, of Pulaski; and numerous other cousins, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with Pastor Terry Mays, Pastor Rob Lough, and Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m..
