Akers, Deborah Kay

Deborah Kay Akers, 48, of Radford, Va., died on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at New River Valley Medical Center. She was born in Morgan City, La., on March 27, 1961, to the late Raymond and Sybil Bijeaux. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Kevin Diehl.

She is survived by her husband, Randy Akers, of Radford; daughter, Carrie Diehl, of Leverett, Mass.; son, Chris Diehl, of Christiansburg; sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl and Jason Boudreaux, of Houston, Texas; two brothers and sisterin-law, Raymond Jr. and Joanne Bijeaux, of Franklin, La., and Blaine Bijeaux, of Lafayette, La.; mother-in-law and father-inlaw, Joyce and Robert Farmer, of Hiwassee; brother-in-law, Larry Akers, of Radford; sisterin-law, Monica Duncan, of Radford; best friend, Brenda and Leon Thompson; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2009, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Brian Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday afternoon at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, S.W., Blacksburg, Va.
