Akers, Christine W.

Christine W. Akers, 75, of Shawsville, passed away in her home Saturday, June 25, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.

Christine is survived by her daughters, Audrey A. Roberts (Jay), Karen A. Mowles, Lisa A. Hartman; son Herman “Buggy” J. Akers Jr; granddaughters, Jennifer (Tracey), Jessica, Jamie (Issam), Danielle (Michael), Ariel and, Megan; special great-grandson Abdessalam; sister-in-law Barbara B. Wheeling; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by the love of her life, husband of 46 years, Herman J. Akers Sr; father and mother, Oakley and Macie B. Wheeling; brother Buford O. Wheeling; sisters, Helen W. Trump, Edith W. Gillespie, Reba W. Scott, Treva W. Martin and Maxie W. Allen; great-grandson, Braydon.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Horne Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 pm in the Horne Funeral Home chapel. Interment will follow in the Dudley family cemetery in Elliston.
