Akers, Barbara Ramsey

Barbara Teresa Ramsey Akers, 59, of Dublin, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 1, 2015. She was born June 9, 1956 at Radford, Va to the Rev. Tommy and Barbara Combs Ramsey.

She was a nurse and was beloved by the students of Narrows High School. She was also very active in her church, Little Creek Apostolic Tabernacle.

She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Pamela Dawn Ramsey.Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Robert Wayne Akers, of Dublin; her parents, the Rev. Tommy and Barbara Combs Ramsey, of Dublin; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Shannon W. Akers, of Rich Creek and Thomas L. and Kendra Akers, of Pulaski; grandchildren, Austin, Audrey and Ashlyn Akers; one great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Charlotte Ramsey and Michael Harmon, of Greensburg, Ky.; and a host of special nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Sunday, October 3, 2015 at Little Creek Apostolic Tabernacle with Bishop Earl Chavis and Craig Strain officiating. Burial will follow at Hunters Cemetery, Alum Springs. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, October 3, 2015 at the church.
