Akers, Annie Barton

Annie Barton Akers, 78, of Salem, passed away on Friday, November 4, 2011. She was a member of Seneca Baptist Church in Elliston.

Surviving are her husband of 59 years, Alvin H. Akers; daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Mark Waldron, Sandra and Gerald Wells and Wanda and Roger Reed; son, Gary Akers; grandchildren and spouses, Courtney Waldron, Hannah Wells, Abigail Wells, Matthew Wells, Nathan and Tiffany Wells, Nathaniel Reed, Adrienne and Jeffrey Smith, Alecia Reed; and great-grandson, Liam Smith. She is also survived by her siblings and their spouses, Bernice and Joe Gray, Eugene and Ginger Barton, Pauline Wells, and Brenda and Sherman Compton. She is also survived by numerous sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the Horne Funeral Home on Monday, November 7, 2011 from 5 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at 11 a.m. with Pastor John Collins officiating.
