Addison Sr., Wiliam B.

William B. Addison Sr., 66, of Floyd, Va., passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at Montgomery Regional Hospital.

He was a retired Sergeant First Class in the United States Army, having served three years of his career in the Vietnam War. During his time in the Army he earned various medals and accommodations for service to the United States of America. He was a member of the Floyd VFW Post #7854 and served on the Honor Guard.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Duke and Bonnie Addison; his brothers, Harold Addison and Paul Addison; and his sister, Doris Bonanno.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Betty Joan Addison, Floyd; and their four sons, his oldest, Paul Daniels Addison and his wife, Donna, of Floyd; his children, Valerie Ann Moran, of Floyd, Crystal Leigh Addison, of Roanoke, Paul Cody Daniels Addison, Joshua Sebastian Lee Addison, William Franklin Blaise Addison, all of Floyd; his next son, William B. Addison Jr., of Floyd; and his child, Sierra Inez and Justin Burcham, of Hillsville; and their son, Joshua Michael; and her expected girl in May; his third oldest, Timothy G. Addison; and his children, Lauren Gayle Murray, Spencer Ryan Addison, of Franklinton, N.C., Zachary Trent Ortner, of Colorado; his youngest son, Benjamin “Chip” Addison and his wife, Traci, of Roanoke; and their expected son in August.

He is also survived by two brothers and three sisters, Daniel and Louise Addison, of Logan, W.Va., Jerry and Judy Addison, of Ravenswood, W.Va., Marie Ferrell, of Wytheville, Joyce and Donzel Morgan, of Vineland, N.J., and Bonnie and Wendell Hatfield, of Gilbert, W.Va.; his stepgrandchildren, Sabrina and Skyler Smith, of Franklinton, N.C., Michael Grove, of Plum Creek, Va., Kelly Hale, of Tazewell, Buddy Skelton, of Christiansburg, Rusty Allan Skelton, of Christiansburg, Jessica and Alex Ortner, of Colorado, and Matthew McPeak, of Christiansburg.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2008, at Gardner Funeral Home with the Revs. Clyde Bishop and Jonathan Goens officiating. Interment will follow at the family cemetery with Military Graveside Rites by Floyd VFW Post #7854 and American Legion Post #127. Pallbearers will be his friends and family.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2008, at Gardner Funeral Home, Floyd, Va. Bill was loved dearly by all of his family and extended family. He will be greatly missed.
