Acton, Morgan Elizabeth

Morgan Elizabeth Acton, 28, of Baltimore, Md. and formerly of Snowville, Va. departed this world far too soon as the result of a traumatic stroke on June 2, 2007.

She was born at Radford Hospital on June 3, 1978 and remained in the New River Valley until she graduated from Pulaski County High School in 1996. In life, Morgan was a kind, caring, and generous spirit with and contagious laugh. She was passionate about life and held her friendships close to her heart.

Her creative nature was expressed as early as age four, as a member of a local dance troupe and later by singing and playing music with the Appalkids in Southwest Virginia. Later, Morgan studied theater at Towson University and managed shows at Axis Theater in Baltimore. Most recently, her creativity was expressed in hair design at Tenpachi Salon in Fells Point, Baltimore. Morgan’s tenacity and personal strength was tested but not defeated with melanoma.

She is survived by her mother, Lorraine Herson-Jones; father, Roger Acton; brother Dane; sisters Krista and Tori; stepmother Julia Acton; stepfather Gene Jones; grandmothers, Helen Acton and Dorothy Herson. Also surviving are companion Ben Thomas, special friends Traci Scott and Ryan Rener, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and beloved friends; and three cats and two turtles.

A celebration of her life will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday June 6, 2007 at Bliley’s-Chippenham, 6900 Hull St Rd, Richmond, VA 23224. We invite friends of Morgan and family to gather at Red Star, 9061 S. Laurel St, Fells Point, Baltimore, Md. from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 9, 2007.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Big Brother/Big Sister Organization of America or to the Melanoma Research Foundation. The family offers a special thanks to the staff of the Johnston-Willis Neuroscience ICU in Richmond, Virginia for their compassionate and attentive assistance.
