Acra, Sr., William Brickhouse

William Brickhouse Acra, Sr., 78, of Blacksburg, VA departed this life Thursday, November 1, 2018 at home in the loving care of family. Born in Portsmouth, VA on May 29, 1940, he was a son of the late Thomas Hawkins, Sr. and Elizabeth Norma Stephenson Acra.

He was a veteran of the US Marine Reserves, a retired sheet metal mechanic with J D Miles and Sons for over 36 years, and attended Fairview Community Church in Blacksburg. He was preceded in death by his wife Constance Lola Acra and brothers Robert and Thomas Acra.

He leaves to cherish his memory his son William B Acra Jr. and his wife Ashley of Roanoke, VA; his daughters and sons-in-law Constance and Joseph Bandy of Blacksburg and Tammy and Joseph Baggett of Elizabeth City, NC; his eleven grandchildren Jennifer Clark, Joseph Faw, Bruce Faw, Timothy Bandy, Nichole Sowers, Travis Baggett, Joseph Baggett, William Acra III, Aubrey Acra, Haley Acra, Joseph Acra; his eight great-grandchildren Destiny Faw, Brittany Clark, Emma Clark, Lucas Bandy, Leslie Bandy, Piper Bandy, Braden Sowers, Ashlynn Stafford-Clark; and his great-great grandchild Leyna Clark.

Memorial services will be conducted Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at 3:00 pm in Fairview Community Church on Glade Road in Blacksburg with Pastor Jimmy Price officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the services. The Kendall Funeral Home in Pembroke is in charge of the arrangements.
