Michael Allen Acord, 28, of Rich Creek, VA, went to be with the Lord Friday July 24, 2020. Michael was born December 12, 1991. He was the son of Ted and Dee Acord.

Michael was a 2010 graduate of Giles High School. Michael was a veteran of the US Army who loved hunting, fishing, golfing, kayaking, spending time with family and friends, and being an active member of the Rich Creek Fire Department and former member of the Pearisburg Fire Department. He loved nothing more than to crack a joke and make everyone laugh.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents Kenneth and Dana Acord, great grandparents and uncle of whom he was named after Michael Meadows.

Michael is survived by his parents Ted and Dee Acord of Pembroke, grandparents Dean and Linda Short of Narrows, Eldon and Cheryl Meadows of Pearisburg, great-grandmother Shirley Roby of Fairlawn. Aunts and Uncles: Lynn Meadows of Narrows, Carma and Donnie Woods of Christiansburg, Jamie and Michael Bland of Blacksburg, Kimberly Meadows of Pearisburg, Jeff Acord, Tim Acord, Cliff and Jennifer Acord, Glen and Jenny Acord all of Christiansburg. Cousins: Lonnie and Marie Medley, Stephanie Meadows and Adam Gerrol, Hunter and Allison Woods, Dylan Woods, (which were more like brothers and sisters) Mason Bland, Jessica Stewart, Nathanial Meadows, Mitchell and Katie Acord, Austin and Elizabeth Acord, Matt Acord, Grace Acord, Garrett Acord, and Lacy and Matt Harris. Special cousins Tiffany, Tarah, Kelsi, and Natalie Medley. Special friends Zach and Amanda Keffer, Jay and Kayla Lafon, Cody Ratliff, Josh Spicer, and Adrian Parcell. His God-daughter Savannah Keffer held a special place in his heart. There are far too many other friends and family to mention.

Michael touched so many lives in his short time on this earth with his big heart, sense of humor and loving nature. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your local fire department in Michael’s honor.

There will be a funeral service held Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at 7:00 PM at God’s House in Hoges Chapel with Pastor David Atkinson officiating. Family will receive friends at God’s House from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
