Abee, Ray Clarence

Ray Clarence “R.C.” Abee, 85 of Christiansburg, was ushered into the presence of the Lord, Monday, May 7, 2007 at the New River Valley Medical Center.

Born in Winston-Salem, NC on November 23, 1921 he was the son of the late John Tipton and Queen Small Abee, a veteran of WWII having served in the US Air Force and was a retired employee of Hercules with over 36 years of service and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marie Williams Abee, two special caregivers; sisters-in-law, Peggy Hammond, Radford, VA, Bette Wampler, Springfield, VA, half-sister, Ethel Kimball, Winston-Salem, NC, brother, Ralph Abee of Winston-Salem, NC.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 10, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church in Radford with Rev. O.D. Morgan and Brian Cochran officiating. Interment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin where members of VFW Post #776 will conduct military graveside rites.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the Calvary Baptist Church. Flowers will be appreciated or contributions may be made to the Christiansburg Rescue Squad. The Abee family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.
