Zaborsky, Matthew John
Matthew John Zaborsky, 85, of 4480 Squirrel Place, Dublin passed away Friday, February 24, 2006 at his home.
Born October 29, 1920 in Star Junction, Pa. he was the son of the late Stephen Matthew Zaborsky and Anna Mary Gibel Zaborsky Lanyi. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Zaborsky; brothers, Francis, Stephen, Joseph and Louis Zaborsky; sister, Olga Marunich and son-in-law, James Simmons.
He was retired from the Department of Army .He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in World War II and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He was a long time member of the Pearl Harbor Survivor’s Association and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Surviving include his wife, Zola Mae Johnson Zaborsky-Dublin (Claytor Lake); daughter: Mary Ann Simmons-Santa Maria, Calif.; son and daughter-in-law Matthew J. & Marlene Zaborsky-Rockville, Md. grandchildren, Jennifer and Nicole Zaborsky; greatgrandchildren, Nicholas Zavala and Dominique Webster; sister and brother-law, Anna and Randall Head, Wytheville; stepsons,Roger Yuhasz, Meadowview, Va., Edward Yuhasz, Dublin, Robert “Bob” Yuhasz, Dublin, Jack Yuhasz, Huntington, W.Va. and William Yuhasz, Mooresville, N.C.
A Vigil service will be conducted 7:15 p.m. Tuesday evening at Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski with Father Charles Faul officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens, Huntsville, Ala. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials in his memory be sent to the Carilion Hospice Services-New River Valley, 707 Randolph Street, Suite 251, Radford, Va. 24141. Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski is handling arrangements for the family.
