wright_robert_hRobert H. (Bob) Wright, 82, of Claytor Lake, Va., died on Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at Pulaski Community Hospital. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Radford, and a retired employee of Hercules, Inc. with 35 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II and participated in Operation Crossroads to test the Atomic Bomb at Bikini, Atoll, Marshall Islands. He was preceded in death by one son, Robert H. (Robby) Wright Jr.; a sister, Margaret Counts; and six brothers, Ballard, Charles W. (Giggs), William H., Joseph O., Martin E. and Thomas (Skeeter) Wright. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Gaynell Beamer Wright; and daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Guy Gilmore, of Radford; grandchildren and their spouses, Chadwick A. and Annette W. Gilmore, of Vinton, Laura G. and Michael Robinson, of Marion, Robert Matthew and Sarah Wright, of Knoxville, Tenn., and William Mitcheal and Brianne Wright, of Kingsport, Tenn.; greatgrandchildren include, Kyle Bradley, David Ryan and Hope Madeline Robinson, Clayton Russell Gilmore, Christian Hunter Ison, and Brandon Matthew and Emily Elaine Wright; one brother and spouse, George (B) and Shirley Wright, of New Brunsfel, Texas; sister and spouse, Dollie and Richard Ford, of Radford; sister, Louise W. Stafford, of Radford; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2010, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Radford with funeral services following at 3 p.m. Pastors Brian Cockram and O.D. Morgan will be officiating. Interment will follow the service at Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin where members of VFW Post #776 will conduct Military Graveside Rites.
