Williams, Beulah Shaver

Beulah “Edith” Shaver Williams of Pearisburg, VA departed this life to walk on the streets of Gold with her Heavenly Father on March 3, 2024 in the care of Heritage Hall-Rich Creek. Her journey on this earth began on March 27, 1927 in Pembroke, Virginia.

Edith was the loving daughter of Bob and Laura Shaver, who along with her cherished son Mickey and nine of her siblings, have gone on before her to prepare a place in our Father’s house.

Edith’s life was a tapestry woven with the love of her family, including her devoted children Jimmy and his wife Sandy, Bobby and his wife Nancy, and Jerry, as well as her caring daughter-in-law Marcena Williams. Her legacy continued to flourish through her adoring grandchildren Lisa, Kristen, Stephen, Adam, Mathew, Carla, Haley, Scottie, Chasty, Brittany and her husband Mark, Timmy, and Mark; and her precious great-grandchildren Cole, Alex, Megan, Nathan, William, Ariana, Ava, Joseph, Garrett, Lorna, and Mathew. Edith was also the beloved sister of Ronald Shaver, and Bobby Gene Shaver and his wife Judy, all of whom will miss her dearly.

Edith was a woman of commendable work ethic, serving diligently at the Kimbalton Lime Company in housekeeping, gracing the aisles of Roses as a cashier, brightening the shelves of Maxway as a sales associate, and nourishing young minds and bodies at the Giles High School Cafeteria. Her diligence and commitment to her work were only matched by her dedication to her faith and community.

Edith was a steadfast woman of the Lord, attending both Gold Bond Gospel Tabernacle and Shaver Memorial Church with a spirit that shone bright and clear. Her love for the Lord was as unwavering as the mountains that cradled her hometown. Edith found great joy in Bible puzzles and reading, which served not only as a testament to her faith but as a source of inspiration and comfort to those around her.

Family time was the cornerstone of Edith’s life, a treasure she held more precious than gold. Her life was a living example of the scripture, “Her children arise up, and call her blessed” (Proverbs 31:28). Edith’s journey to education was one of true grit and determination, as she would walk off the mountain to school amidst the snow, a testament to her perseverance and the value she placed on knowledge and personal growth.

Edith’s life was a sermon of love and devotion, a narrative that will continue to be told through the lives she touched and the family she so dearly loved.

The family wishes to give special thanks to Gale and Ann Pennington and Marie Fletcher for the love and care they have given to Edith over the years.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Shaver Memorial Mission Fund (1007 Curve Road Pearisburg, VA).
