Hallie Graham Wilkinson, 92, of Radford, died Friday, December 1, 2006 after a brief illness in Blacksburg, Virginia. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 56 years, Walter Hopkins Wilkinson.

She is survived by two sons, Thomas Walter Wilkinson and his wife Constance Campbell Wilkinson of Radford and Richard Graham Wilkinson and his life partner Clarence Harvey Marr, Richmond;and two granddaughters, Jennifer Wilkinson Underwood and her husband Kelly Ryan Underwood and Karen Campbell Wilkinson.

Hallie was born in Williamsburg, Virginia on November 18, 1914. She attended the College of William and Mary and then lived in New York City and Atlanta for several years in the late 1930’s. She met Walter Wilkinson when he was home on Christmas leave from the army. They were married in 1942. They spent most of their married life in Hilton Village, Newport News.

Hallie pioneered as a working mother in the 1950’s. She ended her work career at the Yorktown Naval Weapons Station in the 1970’s. Hallie enjoyed writing poetry, gardening and her many lifelong friends.

Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 7,2006 at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Williamsburg, Virginia. Weymouth Funeral Home in Newport News is handling the arrangements.
