Whitlock, Ray Altis

Ray Altis Whitlock, 73, of Floyd, passed away Monday, November 27, 2006. Ray was born November 20, 1933 to the late Gustavis Arthur Whitlock and Lillie Alemeda Pratt. Ray was preceded in death by a grandson, Corey Lee Newman; sister, Beatrice Whitlock; and brothers, Denton, Elinous and William Whitlock.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Roy and Ina Whitlock, Willis, Dennis and Karen Whitlock, Floyd; daughters and son-in-law, Gladys Whitlock, Copper Hill, Louise and Kenny Newman, Vinton; sisters and brother-in-law, Bonnie Hylton, Floyd, Vera Collis, Roanoke, Elizabeth and Wade Eanes, Christiansburg; brother and sister-in-law, Andrew and Thelma Whitlock, Lynchburg; sister-in-law, Vestal Whitlock, Floyd; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; special friends, Fran Weddle and Ray Batiato.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at the Presbyterian Church of Floyd with the Rev. David Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at the Jacksonville Cemetery with Flag Presentation by Floyd VFW Post # 7854 and American Legion Post # 127.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Maberry Funeral Home, Floyd.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Presbyterian Church of Floyd or the American Cancer Society.
