Wheeler, Stanley Vernon

wheeler_stanley_vStanley V. Wheeler, 85, of Elliston, Va., left behind the constraints of his earthly body and went home to heaven on Friday, August 6, 2010. Waiting to join him is his wife of 50 years, Mildred. His legacy includes his children, Vernon Wheeler and wife, Debbi, Rita Furrow, Jackie Spangler, Gary Wheeler and wife, Donna, Tina Badger and husband, Tim, along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he loved very much. Stanley also had several siblings and many friends who were an important part of his life. Stanley was a proud veteran of World War II, and worked for the Veterans Administration for nearly 30 years. After retiring he worked at several funeral homes, a job in which he used his great compassion for people and his faith and love of the Lord. He loved nature, fishing, camping, and walking in the woods passions that he passed on to his children. A celebration of Stanley’s life will be held at Halls United Methodist Church, Elliston, Va., on August 14, 2010, at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Halls Church, 4302 North Fork Road, Elliston, Va. 24087.
