Wheeler, Jr., James Carl

James Carl Wheeler, Jr., passed away Wednesday, June 28 at Lewis-Gale Hospital, Roanoke. Carl was born in Radford, Oct. 1, 1929 to the late James Carl Wheeler, Sr. and Minnie Stump Wheeler. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, George and Fred Wheeler. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 19 years, Korine R. Wheeler.

Carl worked as a barber in Blacksburg for 36 years until he retired.

Surviving are a son James Carl (Jim) Wheeler III, who was his caregiver at Jim’s home, 2601 Warm Hearth Drive, Blacksburg, also his stepdaughter Sandi (Jim) Waters, one brother Don (Shirley) Wheeler, Sr., Dublin, three sisters, Shirley (Dewey) Eanes, Radford, Mary Jane and Tommy Trail, Radford and Betty and (Rev. Jerry) Hughes, Catawba.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, July 1, at The DeVilbiss Funeral Chapel with Rev. Stanley Smith officiating. Interment will follow in West View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Saturday, July 1 at The DeVilbiss Funeral home, Radford.
