Weddle, Talmadge T.

Talmadge T. (Tap) Weddle., 84, of Floyd, died Saturday November 17, 2007 at his home. He was born in Floyd County on January 5, 1923, to the late Thomas Tazewell Weddle and Loula Alice Alderman Weddle.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Clara Weddle Harman.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in Italy, Greece and North Africa. He was a Life Member and Past Commander of Floyd VFW Post #7854 and Past Commander of American Legion Post #127. He married Edna Keith on November 18, 1951. He retired with 45 years service from the United States Department of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service, assisting farmers and landowners in Floyd and surrounding counties. He was Assistant Scoutmaster to a local Boy Scout Troop. He was a longtime member of the Church of the Brethren.

He is survived by his wife, Edna Keith Weddle; daughter and son-in-law, Diana W. and Richard Burton of Dublin; sons and daughter-in-law, Thomas K. Weddle of Roanoke and Lester and Judy Weddle of Floyd; grandchildren, Todd Boothe and wife, Kim of Floyd, Whitney Boothe of Christiansburg, Corey Weddle of Madison, Mo., Jessica Weddle of Red Oak, Iowa, Jamie Prillaman of Bedford, Jessie Weddle of Roanoke, Barry Nichols of Floyd, Lawrence Nichols of Floyd and Tracy B. Hubbard and husband, Jason of Blacksburg; great-grandchildren, Miranda, Keegan, MacKenzie, Carter, Jay, Annika, Bronwyn and Aaron; brother, Edmund Weddle of Floyd and numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and friends.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at Topeco Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. Ralph Duncan and the Rev. Mike Varner officiating. Interment will follow at Topeco Cemetery, with full Military Rites by Floyd VFW Post #7854 and American Legion Post #127. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel, Floyd.
