Webb Sr., James Lee

James Lee Webb Sr., 86, of 1311 Hopkins Drive, Pulaski, Va., died early Friday morning, September 26, 2008, in the Pulaski Community Hospital. He was born in Rocky Gap, Va., (Bland County) on April 23, 1922, and was the son of the late A.J. Webb and Alvertia Smith Webb. He was also preceded in death by a son, Gary A. Webb.

He was a member and deacon and was also a former church treasurer of the First Baptist Church, Pulaski. He was a retired employee of the United States Postal Service with over 40 years of service. Mr. Webb was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II and he attained the rank of sergeant.

Surviving are his wife, Eunice “Whitie” Webb; daughter, Jane Webb Pritt; son and daughter-in-law, James L. Webb Jr. and Cindy Webb; grandchildren, Jonathan Cheverton, Scott Grove, Kelly Altice, Katharine Stevens, Elizabeth Webb and Cary Phipps; sisters, Julia Trammell and Ruth Taylor; six greatgrandchildren; and many other family members.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, September 29, 2008, from the Stevens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Danny Collins and the Rev. Ivey Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the Thornspring Cemetery, Pulaski County. Visiting will be held on Monday from the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the service hour.
