Wall, Jane Painter

Jane Painter Wall, 80, died Monday, April 10, 2006 at Wheatland Hills Retirement Community after an extended illness.

She was born January 12, 1926 in Radford to Frank and Katherine Painter. She was a graduate of Radford High School and Radford College. She taught school for over thirty years, first at Pulaski High School and later in the Radford City Schools, where she was a third grade teacher to many appreciative and loving students at Belle Heth and McHarg elementary schools.

She was a founding member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Radford, a dedicated teacher, and a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. Even in the final days of her illness, she retained her gentle nature, providing comfort to family and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, Dave Wall, and her brother, Jim Painter. She is survived by five children, Dick Wall and wife, Carol of Roanoke, Virginia, Kathy Hale and husband, Eddie of Pulaski, Virginia, Libby King and husband, Bill of Abingdon, Virginia, Susie Beamer and husband, Les of Christiansburg, Virginia, and Jim Wall and wife Amy, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; and by 19 grandchildren, Chad Wall and wife, Ashley of Morgantown, West Virginia, Jennie Painter Wall of Baltimore, Maryland, Philip Wall of Williamstown, Massachusetts, Willie Hale and wife, Ashley of Wingate, North Carolina, David Hale of Charlotte, North Carolina, Mary Elizabeth Hale of Harrisonburg, Virginia, Patrick, Laura and Tyler King, all of Abingdon, Virginia, George and James Beamer of Christiansburg, Virginia, and Emily Jane, Joe, Molly Mae, David, Liza Kate, Chloe, Jeb and Quinn Wall, all of Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

The family extends special thanks to Dr. Chuck Judy and to the extraordinary caregivers at Wheatland Hills and Gentle Shepherd Hospice. Consistent with her wishes, her body was donated for scientific study and research.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church in Radford on Thursday, April 13, 2006, 1 p.m. The family will receive friends immediately following mass at the Montgomery Reception Room at the Best Western Radford Inn, 1501 Tyler Avenue, Radford, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the St. Jude Building Fund, 1740 Tyler Road, Christiansburg, Va. 24073 or to Gentle Shepherd Hospice Charities, 6045 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, Virginia.
