Wainscott, James Perry

James Perry Wainscott, 75, of Dublin, Virginia, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2006 at VA Medical Center, Salem. Born March 21, 1931 in Paragould, Ark., he was the son of the late James Joseph Wainscott and Gay Roberts Wainscott.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and retired with over 20 years of service. He was a sports writer for the local newspapers for many years.

Surviving are his wife, Evelyn Christine Woodcock Wainscott of Dublin; sons, James Wainscott of Fargo, N.D., Ronald Wainscott of San Francisco, Calif.; stepchildren, Mrs. Eddie (Christine) Smith of Dublin, Sandra Beale of Dublin, Sonya Marie Lawrence of San Jose, Calif., Melvin Lawrence of Hampton, Va.; ten grandchildren, Kimberly Beale, Ryan Beale, Nicole Smith, Paul Smith, Melvin Lawrence, Jr., Kristie Lawrence, Amy Lawrence, Koryessa Hagy, Sheena Hagy, Lisa Marie Wainscott; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Delores Rhoades of Memphis, Tenn., Betty Hollis of Southaven, Miss.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted Monday, 3:30 p.m. at Hampton Memorial Gardens, Hampton, Virginia with full military honors conducted at the graveside. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bower Funeral Chapel, 1631 Bob White Blvd., Pulaski., Va. 24301
