Vest, Teddy Jewell

Teddy Jewell Vest, 78, of Shawsville, died on Saturday, August 26, 2006. He was born on November 14, 1927 in Floyd County to the late Teddy Jewell and Gracie Mae Vest Amos.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ada Josephine Akers Vest; son, Teddy Vest; half sisters, Virginia Burchette, Florence Amos, Edna Lucks, and Nancy Gallimore; uncles, Dayton Vest and his wife, Ann, and Edgar Lee Vest; aunt, Naomi Akers; and his faithful companions, Blazer, Benji, and Lightning. Teddy was a brick mason for many years and served his country in the United States Army.

A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, August 28, 2006, at 1 p.m. from the Seneca Baptist Church with the Pastor Virgil McHone officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 27, 2006 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Simpson Funeral Home, Elliston Chapel, 1812 Big Spring Drive. (268-2007).
