Thompson, Loretta Cloe

Loretta Cloe Thompson, 79, peacefully left her home in Pulaski to be with her Lord Jesus on Saturday, Jan 28, 2006. Born Jan 25, 1927 in Nemours WVA, she spent most of her adult life in studying and spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. With Bible in hand and the Word in her mouth, she drove a cab for several years here in Pulaski, and became known as “The Preacher Woman”.

It was during a prayer-a-thon in the 1970’s at the Pulaski Church of God on Bobwhite Blvd., where she was a member, that her gift of intercessory prayer became public. The minister there at that time witnessed her logged hour turned into 12 hours of continuous prayer on her knees at the altar: “She never prayed the same thing twice,” he stated from the pulpit the following Sunday.

Even after she became home bound in a wheelchair, she continued to speak The Word to every living creature that crossed her threshold, and every phone call, even wrong numbers, became a ministry for Jesus.

By no means “a saint”, for she, like us all, had her faults, but all who called upon her for prayer will certainly miss that “knowing feeling” that when she “came boldly before the throne of grace” with our petitions she was heard, and answered.

She was preceded in death to Life by her daughter Jeanie Paulette Ratcliffe; her parents Fred E. and Florence M. Thompson; sisters Deloris T. Hale and Gloria T. Sutherland, and brother Fredrick W. Thompson. This side of glory remains her sister Ramona T. O’Dell; nephews Fredrick, Danny and Breon; nieces Katana, Travana and Michele; great-nephews Richard and Jared, and great-niece Kara.

The family would like to say a special thanks to Eva Davis for her continued love and care of her during her final stay at home.

She donated her body to science hoping to do one last good for those left here, so no memorial service is planned. In lieu of flowers and cards please make donations to Hospice.
