Tawney, Alvin Lee

Alvin Lee Tawney ‘Hoochie’, 52 of Floyd, passed away February 22, 2024. He was born December 27, 1971 to the late Maybelle Tawney and graduated from Christiansburg High School in 1990.

Alvin worked at Hubbel Lighting for 15 years. He loved the outdoors, racing, football, fishing, camping, and going swimming.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Tawney; brother-in-law, Charlie Gentle; and sisters-in-law, Denise and Debbie Tawney. Alvin is survived by his wife, Katrina Tawney of Floyd; children, Andrew Tawney of Christiansburg, Cody Tawney and Sierra Tawney, both of Dublin; step-sons, William Holdren of Floyd and Thomas Holdren of Washington, DC; siblings, Shirley Linkous (David), Sandra Underwood (Randy) both of Christiansburg, Linda Gentle of Giles, William Tawney, Jr., David Tawney (Denise), Tracey Tawney (Stephanie), all of Christiansburg, Dennis Tawney (Patty), of Riner; granddaughters, Madison, Brook, Kameron, and Teagan; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2024, from 6-8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. Funeral Services are Monday, February 26, 2024, at noon in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg.
