Blaine Arthur (Butch) Tanner, Jr. went to be with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, July 5, 2014. Butch Loved the Lord and remained strong in his faith throughout his 5 ½ year fight with cancer. A “winner either way” was his motto and attitude as he faced every obstacle and struggle put his way.

His perseverance and determination was driven by his strong love of his family and he served as an inspiration to every life that he touched, and became an example to all of us to how our lives should be lived.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Blaine Arthur Tanner, Sr., and Lucy Shelor Tanner; a brother, Gary Wayne Tanner and a granddaughter, Cassidy Paige Tanner.

Butch left behind his loving wife, Katherine Tanner; his sons and daughters-in-law, Shawn and Lindsey Tanner, Shane and Susan Tanner and daughter, Michele S. Lytton. He also is survived by his pride and joy grandchildren, Ashley and Aaron Mathis, Ashton Lytton, Caleb Tanner, Carley Lytton, Draper Tanner, Tristan Tanner and Courtney Tanner, and the newest pride and Joy of the family, great-grandson, Remington Mathis. He is also survived by many special relatives and friends.

A Memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at The Copper Hill Church of the Brethren with Pastor Marty Moyer officiating. Following the service, family and friends will return to the home for a releasing of doves and fellowship to follow. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. before the memorial service.
