Stump, Jr., Dale Owen

Dale Owen Stump Jr., of Staffordsville, VA left this world on April 16, 2024, at the age of 46. Born in Virginia on October 6, 1977, to Dale Stump Sr. and Sherry Hopkins, Dale’s early years were filled with the warmth of a close-knit family. His step-mother, Nancy Stump also created countless cherished memories.

Dale’s life was one of dedication and joy. He graduated from Giles High School with the class of 1995, where he made many lifelong friends and discovered interests that would stay with him throughout his life. He spent his professional years behind the wheel as a truck driver for the PSA, a job that suited his love for the open road and his independent spirit.

A man of many passions, Dale was an avid cook who could often be found in the kitchen, experimenting with recipes and flavors to the delight of his family and friends. His love for the outdoors was evident in his enthusiasm for hunting, a pastime that brought him peace and a deep connection to nature.

Family was the cornerstone of Dale’s life. He was a devoted father to his son, Christopher Stump (Charlotte Polly), and to his daughter, Summer Stump. His grandson, Watson Stump, was the light of his life, and Dale cherished every moment spent with him. He was a loving brother to David Allen Stump and Dawn Stump and a fun-loving uncle to his nieces, Kayla Freeman and Tiffany Freeman, and his nephew, Matthew Stump. His great-nephew, Carter Burton, along with several other family members and friends, will miss his generous spirit and infectious laughter.

Dale was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Nancy Stump, and Leo Hopkins, whose values and love helped shape the man he became. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and a deep-seated love for his family.
