Elsie Lucas Strawn passed away at her home in Radford on Monday, December 4, 2006.

She was born on October 19, 1916 at Childress, VA., to the late Edward and Viola Cormell Lucas. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, two brothers, two half sisters and by her beloved canine companion Mary Alice. She spent her entire adult life in Radford and was a long time member of Grove United Methodist Church, a retired hairdresser and an avid quilter.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Nora S. and Eugene E. Rudd of Alexandria; son and daughter-in-law, James E. and Judith S. Strawn of Chester; four grandchildren and their spouses Robert E. and Michele Rudd, James E. II and Amy Strawn, Mark E. and Rachel Strawn and Rebecca R. and Richard Barry; ten great grandchildren Susannah and Sarah Rudd, Madeleine and Finnian Barry, Sylvia and Gus Strawn and Margaret, Alice, Louise and Samuel Strawn; two sisters-in-law, Doris Graham and Nell Daugherty both of Radford; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 9, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mullins Funeral Home with the Rev. James Bennington officiating. Entombment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Dublin.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to the Grove United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.
