Spangler, Gaynelle Covey

Esther Gaynelle Covey Spangler, age 84 of Pulaski, died Sunday October 29, 2023, at Spring Oak at Christiansburg. She was born in Pulaski on September 10, 1939, and was the daughter of the late Emily Virginia Esther Guynn Covey and the late Arlie W. Covey.

Gaynelle was a lifelong member of Max Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed feeding family and church family, and friends at Jefferson Mills. She was especially known for her Macaroni and cheese! Gaynelle worked at Jefferson Mills from 1958 to 2014, as their personnel Manager. Over the span of her work years, she became acquainted with over 10,000 people. Everyone loved her and she loved everyone.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; David B. Spangler: brother; Oakley Covey: sister; Joyce Smith. She is survived by her two sons: Marc (Nancy) Bishop of Pulaski, and Brian (Kelly) Bishop of Pulaski: 4 Grandchildren; Jeremy (Beth) Bishop, Emily Bishop, Caroline Bishop, and Hunter Bishop: two great-grandchildren; Abigail Bishop and Mackenzie Bishop.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at 12:00 noon at Max Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Coleman officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until 12 noon. Entombment will be on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Spring Oak in Christiansburg for taking care of Nana when we were unable to do so.
