George Daniel (Dan) Spangler, Jr., 71 of Floyd, passed away August 23, 2010 after a courageous fight with leukemia. Dan was very passionate about his career as a local car dealer where he became known as the “Dealer Who Cares.”

Dan was a people person and loved chatting with all his friends and customers at the dealership. His loving heart touched so many over the years. He is preceded in death by his parents G.D. and Maude Spangler.

Survivors include his devoted wife of 24 years, Nora Sue Spangler; sons George Spangler and special friend Michelle Ouellette, & Brian and wife Melissa Spangler; daughters and son in laws, Karie and Brandon Wade, & Katie and Eric Holfield; Grandchildren, Heather, Liz, and Camden Spangler and Karleigh Wade, and Great-Grandchild Nigel.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Maberry’s Funeral Home in Floyd. The family will receive friends August 24, 2010 from 5pm to 9pm. The funeral will be held on August 25 2010 at 11:00am with Rev. Roy Turpin & Rev. Gene Koger officiating. Interment to follow at Jacksonville Cemetery with Military Rites by Floyd V.F.W. Post 7854 and American Legion Post #127.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Medical Charities of Floyd County, 100 E. Main St. Room 108, Floyd, VA 24091 in the name of Nora Spangler .
