Tyler, Laurie Marie Ziegenfuss

Laurie Marie Ziegenfuss Tyler, 52, of Pembroke, Va., passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at Carilion Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg, Va.

Mrs. Tyler was born on August 14, 1952 in Palmerton, Pa. and was a daughter of the late Joyce Lorraine Haydt Ziegenfuss and George L. Ziegenfuss. Laurie was a 1973 graduate of Palmerton High School, a 1977 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in biology and did graduate work at George Washington University in Environmental Policy. She dedicated her life in trying to make this world a safer place to be in.

Laurie is survived by her husband, James E. Tyler of Pembroke; her father and stepmother, George L. and Murray Ziegenfuss of Speedwell, Va.; and one daughter, Amelia Joan Tyler of Pembroke.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, November 17, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church in Pearisburg at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Linda Mitchell Motley officiating and the Rev. David Skole presenting the sermon.

The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Home in Pearisburg on Friday evening, November 16, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Giles Memorial Hospital Foundation dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.
