Smith, Jimmie Wallace

Jimmie Wallace Smith, TSGT, USAF Retired, went to join his family, friends, and military buddies that left this world before him. Jimmie was 93 years old. Born September 1, 1930, in Northport, Nebraska he was the son of the late Wallace Robert Smith and Esther Robertson Smith.

Jimmie was retired from the USAF with twenty-one years one month and one day of service. He wanted to make it clear about the one month and one day.

Jimmie was very proud of his military career having traveled all over the world and stationed in numerous countries. Having traveled the world his favorite place was Paris, France. He served in Viet Nam twice volunteering for the second tour. Not all places were peaceful at times. He enjoyed talking about his time in the military to anyone who would listen.

After he retired, he decided to move to Giles County, Virginia to be near his sisters. Starting his second career and a new chapter in his life he went to work on the golf course at Virginia Tech retiring after thirteen years.

Jimmie was a Life member of Grand Lodge Free & Accepted Masons of Michigan. Jimmie was a brother to the late Geneieve Link, Robert Smith, and Burton Smith. He was an uncle to Jean and D.R. Sarver, Newport, Virginia who were his special caretakers. Uncle to Malcena Mooney, New Castle, Pennsylvania, Oliver Link Jr., Newport, Virginia, Randy Smith, Roanoke, Virginia, Wayne Smith, Troutville, Virginia, Gail Wood Covington, Virginia.
