Simmons, James Hugh

James Hugh Simmons, 92, of Willis, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2006. He was employed by the Virginia Department of Highways for over 30 years and served as superintendent for 15 years.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Neva Slusher Simmons of Willis, Va.; daughters, Mary Simmons Rakes and husband, Ganas Kaye Rakes, of Williamsburg, Va., and Sarah Simmons of Holden Beach, N.C.; and granddaughter, Sabrina Rakes Fahey and husband, Jessen M. Fahey, of Morrison, Colo.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 26, 2006 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel, Floyd, with the Rev. Josh Kilbourne officiating. Interment will follow at Topeco Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday prior to the funeral services.
